Have you ever been in a situation where you were just looking for the perfect excuse to use a certain thing, a certain tool, or maybe even a new art program? Here's mine. While uncharted territory for this guy and baby's first bandana design, this is truly a project I loved the process of making. To make this come to life, I had some friends help get this sent over to a local screen printing shop and the rest is history.
Trust the Process
I'm a very curious individual and often find myself asking other artists, "How did you do that?" I'm in absolute awe of processes. Here's me giving a little of that back. I start all concept work in my sketchbook! If you see anything with my name attached to it, just know it lives in a page - or several - in one of my sketchbooks before it ever sees the light of a computer screen.
Procreate
After doing my initial sketch and presenting the two concepts I had, it was decided amongst my friends to go with the clover and vine idea. It felt universal for everyone at the office, while the first concept I had was seen as a cool one, but was a little harder to sell. Once this concept was chosen I jumped to Procreate and started to do a refined sketch of my over all concept.
Adobe Fresco
First time using this app, but what better excuse to try out a new program? I discovered this after finding a more streamlined way to vector what I drew in Procreate. Fresco handles vector and pixels very well while maintaining that hand drawn feeling that I loved from my sketch. I imported my drawing from Procreate to Fresco and drew on top of it with a white vector brush.
P.S. Seeing others ornate their beautiful bodies with something I made. Can't beat it.
